ドイツの学校衛生の歴史は, ドイツの医学史研究のみならず歴史研究全般においても空白領域である。本稿では, 19世紀から20世紀初頭に焦点を絞り, ドイツの学校衛生が「学校の衛生」として確立され, のちに「生徒の衛生」へと転換したことを示し, さらに, ライン=ルール地方のデュッセルドルフ市を事例にして, 都市において「生徒の衛生」がどのように実践され制度化されたのかを検証した。さらに, 学校衛生の歴史研究が今後取り組む課題として, 事例研究の豊富化, 子どもの健康をめぐる学知の生産・蓄積及び関係する学問領域のScientific Communityの形成, 学校衛生の国際比較, ドイツにおける社会国家の確立があることを示した。
School hygiene in Germany in the late 19th and early 20th centuries is considered a requisite in not only German medical history but also modern German history in general This paper describes the establishment of German school hygiene as "school hygiene" and its subsequent transformation into "student hygiene." Next, this paper explores the example of a city in the Rhine-Ruhr area (Düsseldorf) to outline the institutionalization of "student hygiene" at the local level. Finally, the following four points are presented as important themes for future related research: additional case studies, the production and accumulation of knowledge for child health and the development of the scientific community for sciences related to child health, international comparisons and the establishment of the German welfare state
