『新・保育環境評価スケール①』(Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale, 3rd edition, Harms et al., 2016; 埋橋玲子訳, 2016; 以降ECERS-3と略記)を用い，東京都下の自治体にある認可保育所及び幼稚園，認定こども園を対象に幼児教育の質を定量的に評価したデータ、KIDS乳幼児発達スケール、子どもの強さと困難さ質問票(以降SDQと略記)を用いた子どもの発育状況に関する調査、WHO-5やParental Feeling Questionnaire (Deater-Deckard, 2000)を用いた保護者のメンタルヘルスや子どもに対する感情に関する調査のデータを利用し、保育の質と各種アウトカムとの関連について分析した。その結果、ECERS-3の全体スコアと、KIDS乳幼児発達スケールのサブスケール「理解言語」「表出言語」「概念」の間に正の関連がみられることが分かった。ECERS-3のサブスケールレベルでみると、「言葉と文字」がKIDSのこれらのサブスケールと比較的大きな正の相関関係があった。また、ECERS-3の全体スコアは保護者の良好なメンタルヘルスや子どもに対するポジティブな感情とも正の相関をしていた。ECERS-3の全体スコアと、同時点でのSDQには有意な関連がみられなかったが、ECERS-3の全体スコアと就学後の行為問題とは有意な負の相関が、向社会性とは有意な正の相関がみられることがわかった。また、ECERS-3の全体スコアは就学後の学力（算数・国語）とも正に相関していた。これらのことから、幼児期に良好な保育の質を経験することと、子どもの適応的な発育状況や親の良好なメンタルヘルスとが関連するということが示唆された。これらの結果を踏まえ、ECERS-3のサブスケールレベル及び項目レベルで各種アウトカムとの関連を詳細に検討し、よりアウトカムに対する予測精度の高い評価尺度の尺度構成を試みる計画である。
This study aimed to examine the relationship between the quality of early education and care (ECEC) at nursery centers, kindergartens, and certified child care centers in a city in Tokyo and various outcomes including child's developmental status, parent's mental health, and parent's feelings toward his/her child. For this aim, following data was used; The Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale, 3rd edition (Harms et al., 2016; hereinafter, ECERS-3), the KIDS Infant Development Scale, the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ), the WHO-5, and the Parental Feeling Questionnaire (Deater- Deckard, 2000). The results showed a positive correlation between the overall ECERS-3 score and the subscales "receptive language," "expressive language," and "language concepts" of the KIDS Infant Development Scale. The overall ECERS-3 score was also positively correlated with parents' good mental health and positive feelings toward their children. There was no significant correlation between the overall ECERS-3 score and the SDQ at the same time point, but there was after entering school; a significant negative correlation between the overall ECERS-3 score and conduct problems and a significant positive correlation with prosociality. The overall ECERS-3 score was also positively correlated with post-school academic achievement (math and Japanese). These findings suggest that experiencing good quality of ECEC during early childhood is associated with children's adaptive developmental status and parents' good mental health. Based on these results, we plan to examine in detail the relationships with various outcomes at the subscale and item level of the ECERS-3, and attempt to construct a rating scale with higher predictive accuracy for these outcomes.
