今年度は研究プロジェクトの初年度であるため、データ収集準備とデータ収集を行った。オンライン調査を専門とする調査会社を通じ、オンラインパネルと呼ばれるアンケート調査参加者に対して調査を実施し、データを収集した。こういった調査方法は筆者は過去に経験済みではあったが、本プロジェクトではシナリオ実験と呼ばれる研究手法を初めて用いた。そのため、アンケート調査を設計するための入念な準備が必要となった。
シナリオ実験は心理学や教育学では頻繁に用いられる研究手法であるが、経営学分野、とりわけ筆者が専門とする国際経営論や国際人的資源論の分野においては、これまであまり一般的ではなかった。しかし、これまで一般的に行われている主に重回帰分析を用いた分析と比べると、実験から得られるデータは因果関係をテストするのに適している。今後、本研究で用いたようなシナリオ実験をはじめとした実験的手法によるデータ収集は、経営学でも普及するものと思われ、この手法で研究を実施しておくことは研究の最新トレンドを先取りするうえで重要である。
次年度以降は今年度収集したデータの分析をさらに進め、そこから得られた結果をもとに学会報告や競争的資金獲得の足掛かりとしていく予定である。
The current research project involves data collection using a scenario-based experimental method. The data for this project were collected from online panels, or individuals who agreed to participate in surveys, through an online research company. Though I have collected survey data through web-based surveys from online panels in the past, it was the first time for me to collect data using the scenario-based experiment. Therefore, I took time to prepare a scenario-based survey in order for the survey to work well.
So far, scenario-based experiment has not been so common in management studies, especially in my research areas of international management and international human resource management, despite that it is a method commonly used in psychology and education studies. Experiments, including the scenario-based ones, are seen to be effective for testing causality unlike correlational methods such as multiple regression. Thus, it is expected that experiment based studies will flourish in international management and international human resource management research in the near future. It is important for me to be taking a lead on this trend.
In FY 2022, I am going to continue analyzing the data collected and will report my findings at an academic conference. I also endeavor to develop the current project to a full fledged one and plan to apply for Kakenhi.
