「現代ドイツ文学おける歴史叙述の系譜」をめぐる研究（3年計画）の2年目は、現地調査や文献の渉猟を継続するなかで、現代ドイツ文学における歴史叙述の流れを「歴史小説」と「想起の文学」に分けられることを確認し、これら２つのジャンルを特徴づける現代小説の精読を行なった。その成果の１つが2019年10月発表の紀要論文「,,Avifauna'' auf den Trümmern — Eine Naturgeschichte in Marcel Beyers Kaltenburg」である。1965年西ドイツ生まれのマルセル・バイアーの小説『カルテンブルク』(2008) を取り上げ、戦争を知らない若い世代による「想起の文学」の一例を示した。戦後のドイツ文学は、ドイツの過去の克服をめぐる世代間闘争という切り口から、主として政治的に読まれることが多かったが、本論考では『カルテンブルク』を成立させるテクストの詩的な側面に光をあて、ドイツの過去の克服をめぐるデリケートな政治議論を軽やかにのり越えてしまう若い世代の特徴を明らかにした。2020年3月には「ドイツ現代文学ゼミナール」にて、ダニエル・ケールマン（1975年生まれ）の歴史小説について研究発表を予定していたが、新型コロナウィルス感染拡大の影響によりゼミナールの開催が次年度に延期されてしまった。ケールマンの歴史小説が、文学モデルネが生み出した抵抗としての歴史小説を批判的に継承するものであるという発表テーゼを、2つの世界大戦を第二のの30年戦争として捉える言説をふまえて、2020年度中に論文としてまとめたい。また、アルフレート・デーブリーン作『運命の旅』の書評を依頼されたのを機に、戦争やホロコーストを体験した亡命者の手による「想起の文学」について考察する糸口を見つけることができた。さらに「歴史の表象」という観点から、小説に登場する歴史的記念碑に関するドイツでの現地調査を始めた。2020年度の講義科目「地域文化論」にてその調査結果をいくつか紹介できるだろう。
In the second year of the three-year research project, reading of secondary and primary literature, it was confirmed that historiographical narratives in the German Contemporary Literature could be categorised into two types: 'historical novels' and 'memory fiction'. One of the achievements was presented as a paper (Avifauna auf denTrümmern—Eine Naturgeschichte in Marcel Beyers's 'Kaltenburg'), published in October 2019. This paper focusses on Marcel Bayer's novel 'Kaltenburg' (2008) and provides an example of 'memory fiction' by a young generation having no experience of the world wars and the Holocaust. Beyers's memory fiction fictionalises an act of memory and deconstructs historical discourses based on political ideology. While Post-war German literature has often been read primarily politically, in light of the intergenerational struggle for overcoming Germany's past, in this paper, the poetic aspects of the text have been illuminated so that a characteristic of those in the younger generation, who can easily aesthetically overcome the delicate political debate over overcoming Germany's past, is clarified. Furthermore, I had scheduled a presentation about a Daniel Kehlmann (born in 1975) as a representative of a historical novel author in a study group for March 2020. However, due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, this event has been postponed until next year. In addition, writing a book review of Alfred Döblin's Schicksalsreise encouraged me to study memory fiction by a Jewish refugee who had fled the Nazi threat. Additionally, in relation to representations of history, I have begun a field study on historical monuments in Germany that appear in German novels and films. Some of these will be introduced in a lecture in 2020.
