近年, 経営学の方法論議において注目を集めているのが混合研究法の考え方である。これはプラグマティックな観点から, 定量的方法と定性的方法とを混合して用いる研究デザインを意味しているが, その有効性や方法論的妥当性に対してはさまざまな疑義も投げかけられている。本稿では, 混合研究法を「理解」と「説明」の結合ととらえて, 経営学の方法に新たな方向性を模索したドイツの経営経済学者, ブリュールの主張に焦点を当て, その考察を通して経営学における混合研究法の可能性と限界を明らかにする。
In recent years mixed methods approach has attracted a considerable attention in business administration. 
It attempts to combine two different research methods from the pragmatic viewpoint, i.e. qualitative and quantitative methods. 
But its methodological justification has been discussed very controversially. 
This paper is to reveal the possibilities and limitations of mixed methods in business administration by examining the theory of R. Brühl, a German scholar of management, who has regarded mixed methods as combination of "understanding" with "explanation" and tried to search for a solution to this methodological problem.
