本稿は, 筆者の研究を振り返り, その方法と成果を示したものである。2010年末の会長講演をベースに, 論点を追加し加筆した。筆者の方法は, 実態調査を踏まえ, 帰納的に日本の中小企業にかかわる産業展開の論理を解明するものであり, その方法を通し, 下請系列関係形成の論理解明, 機械工業の社会的分業構造の概念図化, 独自存在としての中小企業, 産業集積の相対視, 日本製造業の東アジア化といった独自な見解を得るに至った。

The method used in this study, based on a field survey, is to inductively elucidate the logic of industrial development related to Japanese SMEs and, through this method, this study obtains original insights into the logic of the formation of the Keiretsu-subcontractor relationship, the concept diagram of the structure of social division of labor in machinery industries, SMEs having an autonomous existence, a relative perspective of industry agglomeration, and the East Asianization of the Japanese manufacturing industry.
