What is creativity? Creativity most immediately associates with the characteristics of novelty and originality. It is an indispensible capacity to most people in today's society. In China, creativity as an important issue has been written in national outline. Are Chinese children creative? According to many researches it can be found that the development of creativity in Chinese children is not so optimistic. Therefore, to develop their creativity, I designed a workshop called Wonderland Kids. Wonderland Kids is a visual art workshop that utilizes the method of creative drama and multimedia animation. Different from conventional workshops, in Wonderland Kids, a drama–Alice's Adventure in Wonderland, constitutes the whole workshop, and the drama is acted out by four components: animation, role-play, music and layout. The format of Wonderland Kids remedies the defects in Chinese visual art workshops. To test the effect of Wonderland Kids, I implemented the workshop in China. The results demonstrate that Wonderland Kids is an effective workshop on developing children's creativity. The methods of creative drama and multimedia animation used in the workshop are able to stimulate children's imagination. The thesis mainly states the research's necessity, introduces the design of Wonderland Kids and testifies the workshop's effects on fostering creativity in Chinese children.
