データ収集・分析：
2022年4月から2023年2月までは、新型コロナウイルス感染症の影響によりアフリカでフィールドワークを行うことが困難であったため、主としてオンラインでクプサビニィ語のデータをChebet Francis氏からシダーマ語のデータをGenene Gudura氏とLegesse Gudura氏から採り、コンサルタントたちとともに分析をした。2023年2月から3月のウガンダ共和国カプチョーワでのフィールドワークで、主にChebet Francis氏からクプサビニィ語のデータを採った。
論文発表：
日本言語学会のジャーナルである『言語研究』にクプサビニィ語の名詞の形式（長いデフォルトの形式と短い不定の形式）の共時的用法と通時的発展に関する論文を出版した。これらの形式が談話でどのように使われるかをDryer (2014) の「指示階層」を使って分析した。長形は定の領域に使われるだけでなく、ディフォルトとして、不定の領域の多くにおいても短形よりも頻繁に用いられ、短形を使わなければならない状況は指示が起こり得ないような不定の場合に限られることがわかった。長形の意味は、かつて定性であったのが、名詞句の指示対象（のタイプ）について聞き手と知識を共有していると話者が持っている想定に基づくものへと一般化され、使用の文脈が広がったという仮説を立て、この変化について意味と語用の点から説明を試みた。長形と短形の選択のその他の要因（語彙、構文、文脈、話者の世代等）も記述した。また、一般に言語に見られる傾向に反し、より複雑な長形が短形よりも頻繁に起こることも指摘した。このように、南ナイル語派個別の問題に取り組むと同時に、言語類型論の問題を扱った。
Nilo-Ethiopian StudiesにMotomichi Wakasa (2020) A Descriptive Study of the Modern Wolaytta Languageの書評を書いた。
学会発表としては、まず日本アフリカ学会第59回学術大会で、シダーマ語の因果関係・使役に関する実験結果の報告をした。第二に、Ideophonesの類型論に関する国際学会で、シダーマ語の通時的発展についての発表を行った。第三に、空間移動表現に関する国際学会で、クプサビニィ語のassociated motion構文の通時的発展についての論文、およびクプサビニィ語とネワール語の方向ダイクシスの言及の頻度の高さを分析した論文を発表した。第四に、因果関係・使役に関する国際共同研究の成果として、Linguistic Society of Americaの学会において、causationの通言語的プロトタイプについての共同発表を行った。その他、研究会においてもクプサビニィ語とシダーマ語に関する発表を行った。
論文投稿：
シダーマ語の文法の記述をしたチャプターを含む書籍（The Oxford Handbook of Ethiopian Languages）が2023年4月に出版予定である。
2023年1月に国際査読ジャーナルに因果関係・使役に関する論文を2本投稿して、現在査読審査を受けている。
Data collection and analysis:
As it was difficult to conduct fieldwork in Africa due to COVID-19 from April 2022 until February 2023, I mainly collected data online from my major Kupsapiiny consultant, Chebet Francis, and my major Sidaama consultants, Genene Gudura and Legesse Gudura, and analyzed the data with them. However, my fieldwork in Kapchorwa, Uganda, from February until March 2023 made it possible for me to collect further Kupsapiiny data from Chebet Francis.
Published and presented papers:
I published "Long default and short indefinite noun forms in Kupsapiiny: Synchronic usage and diachronic development" in Gengo Kenkyu (Journal of the Linguistic Society of Japan).
I also published a review of Motomichi Wakasa (2020) A Descriptive Study of the Modern Wolaytta Language in Nilo-Ethiopian Studies.
I gave four conference presentations. First, I gave a presentation on the results of the experiment on causative constructions that I conducted with Sidaama speakers at the 58th Meeting of the Japan Association for African Studies in May 2022. Second, I talked about the diachronic development of idioms with the verbs ‘say' and ‘do' in Sidaama at an international conference on the typology of ideophones in June 2022. Third, I presented two papers at an international conference on motion expressions in November 2022. Fourth, I contributed to a joint presentation for the international research project on causatives I am involved in at the 97th Annual Meeting of the Linguistic Society of America in January 2023.
I also gave presentations in research group meetings.
Forthcoming and submitted papers:
The book volume to which I contributed a grammatical sketch of Sidaama (The Oxford Handbook of Ethiopian Languages) is going to be published in April 2023.
I submitted two papers to an international refereed journal in January 2023 and they are currently under review.

I have continued to revise the grammars of Kupsapiiny and Sidaama.
