本研究「戦後日韓政治・経済史とロッテ財閥の発展 －辛格浩（重光武雄）の時代－」は、３年間（2021～21年度）をかけ総合的な視点から、戦後日韓政治・経済史の中における日韓ロッテグループの発展を、創業者・辛格浩（シン・キョクホ：日本名・重光武雄）の企業家活動を中心に分析した。当初は基礎準備作業（2019年度）、学会発表・論文執筆（2020年度）などを経て、2021年度（最終）に書籍の執筆を計画していた。しかしコロナ禍の状況にあって訪韓調査が全くできないため後半期（2020～21年度）の計画を前倒しし、2020年度末に単著『ロッテ創業者 重光武雄の経営 国境を超えたイノベーター』（日本経済新聞出版）を刊行することとなった。
計画３年目の2021年度も、コロナ禍ゆえにロッテグループや辛格浩（重光武雄）に関する訪韓してのインタビュー調査や資料収集などは実行することが全くできなかった。コロナ前にすでに収集した文献や記録類、日韓ロッテ各社から発刊された社史や社内報など内部資料の整理・検討を進め、その後インターネットを通して収集した資料や、日本国内での数回に及ぶ関係者インタビューなどを通し、辛格浩（重光武雄）の企業家としての側面の考察をさらに深めた。
この過程で、辛格浩に関する初の回顧録が2021年11月、韓国において刊行されたことはさらに研究が深まる契機となった。よく知られているように、生前、辛格浩は回顧録や自叙伝を残していない。しかし親族を中心に残されていた本人との非公式インタビュー記録が韓国ロッテグループ本社において整理され、死去後改めて回顧録として刊行に至ったものである。
2021年度後半には、この回顧録の記述についての詳細な検討・検証作業を始めた。ここには今まで公式的には語られていなかった内容が多く見いだされる。特に日韓国交正常化に至る激動の時期について、その時代を生きた当事者ならではの記述が多い。さらに検討していきたい。
This study (3-year plan) analyzes the development of Lotte in the history of politics and economy between Japan and South Korea after the war, focusing on the entrepreneurship of founder Shin Kyuk-ho (Japanese name: Takeo Shigemitsu).
This research started in 2019, and after basic preparation work (2019), and academic presentation and thesis writing (2020), I planned to realize the writing of books in 2021. However, due to the situation of the COVID-19, the investigation into visiting Korea was not possible at all, so the 2020 plan was changed. At the end of February 2021, "Lotte Founder Takeo Shigemitsu's Management: Innovator across borders" (published by Nihon Keizai Shimbun) will be published.
Because of the COVID-19, there was only a limited number of domestic investigations. Interviews in Korea were never realized, and only exchanged e-mails and conducted telephone interviews several times. I revealed Takeo Shigemitsu's entrepreneurial side by organizing the collected literature, records, and internal documents such as company history and company newsletters published by Lotte Japan and Korea Lotte. I was able to clarify one part of it in the form of a work.
In the process, the publication of Shin's first memoirs in Korea in November 2021 provided an opportunity for further research. As is well known, Shin did not leave any memoirs or autobiographies during his lifetime. However, the records of unofficial interviews with the person left mainly by relatives were organized at Lotte Group headquarters in Korea, and after his death, the book was published again as a memoir.
In the second half of fiscal year 2021, detailed examination and verification of the description of this memoir began. There are many things that have not been officially mentioned before. In particular, there are many descriptions of the turbulent times leading to the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and South Korea in the 1950s and 1960s. We would like to consider further.
