ドイツ演劇学で論争となったプレゼンス論とアブセンス論の統合を目指す本研究は, 演劇上演ではプレゼンスとアブセンスの状況がパラドクシカルに生じていることを, 現代日本と欧州の演劇作品を例にして明らかにした。この状況が同時かつパラドクシカルであることは, 声や身体の動きが「ある」ようにみえるが, そうでは「ない」かもしれないという観客側の受容の不確実さに顕在化される。本研究はこの不確実な観劇体験を経て, 社会で起きる「ある」と「ない」をめぐる問題に対して私たちがより確実に把握する認識姿勢につながることを明らかにした。プレゼンスとアブセンスのあいだの不確実さは, 私たちが物事を把握する際の確実さを保証する。
This Research aims to integrate the theories of presence and absence which have been regarded as contradictions in the German theatre studies in recent years and to create a new theatre theory which explains theatrical phenomenon and perception of audiences more substantially. This theory argues that the theatrical phenomenon appears in a paradoxical situation of presence and absence. This paradox applies to the perception of audiences who are not always sure if the theatrical phenomenon has been presented just as they have seen them on the stage. The presentation on the stage is thus connected with the absent situation of audiences who cannot perceive the presentation as it is. This unsureness of their perception can promote the ability of their own perception in their daily lives, because they can reflect on their limit of perception itself through their theatre experience between present and absent situations.
