我が国における「弁護士・依頼者間秘匿特権」の保障の在り方について，比較法的および政策論・制度論的検討を行い，その基礎にあるべき思考を探求した。
研究期間前半では，比較法に重点を置き，我が国の現行法制の基礎にある発想を言語化して顕在化させることに努めた。その成果は，国際学会における共同研究として発表した。
研究期間後半は，政策論的・制度論的見地からする検討に重点を移して検討を進めた。本研究課題の主題それ自体を直接の論究主題とする業績は研究期間内に公表するに至らなかったが，その副産物として，手続上生起する様々な問題について政策論ないし制度論的見地から検討を加えた論文を複数発表することができた。
This study examines whether and how the attorney-client privilege should be implemented in Japan, in addition to the existing protection of attorneys' professional secrecy. It employs a comparative legal analysis and explores policy and institutional considerations with the aim of delving into the principles underpinning the privilege.
During the initial phase, the emphasis was placed on comparative perspectives, with an effort to articulate and manifest the conceptual foundations underlying Japan's current law. The results were subsequently presented at the XXth International Congress of Comparative Law in Fukuoka, 2018.
In the later phase, shifting the focus, I critically examined the subject from policy and institutional perspectives. Although no publications directly addressing the study's main theme were completed within the timeframe, multiple papers emerged as byproducts of the project, exploring various procedural issues from a policy or institutional standpoint.
