本研究は、中世後期イングランドにおいて特別な重要性をもった聖体拝領の教説を扱う説教史料の理解に寄与した。説教を用いてどのように伝播したか、その様相の把握を史料の同定から読解までを通じて行うとともに、中世後期のイングランドにおける説教というメディア自体の変貌の把握に寄与し、メディア・コミュニケーション史と宗教史との統合的探究の可能性を拡大した。
This study has contributed to an deeper understanding of sermon materials on the teaching of the Eucharist in late medieval England : differences in types of audiences and messages, and over the period, shedding light on how it spread by the means of preaching. In doing so, it also has provided insight into the development of sermons and preaching during the period, exploring the frontier of integrated research of 'media' history and religious history.
