Research interest in interpersonal communication as a source of influence was first given major impetus by the 1940 voting study conducted by Lazarsfeld, Berelson and Gandet. The researchers discovered that people who changed their mind during the course of campaign were influence by their friends, co-workers and relatives. From this research, the concept of opinion leaders emerged. Since then, a large number of researches on opinion leaders were conducted. However, there are the enduring questions about opinion leaders, or personal influence. They remain issues. In this article, three of the issues are discussed. These three issues are followings. 1. Are there generalized opinion leaders? Do opinion leaders in one topic area tend to be opinion leaders in other topic areas? 2. Do people always make the decisions by influence of opinion leaders? 3. Study of the opinion leaders and communication network analysis.
