History is created at each period, according to requests of each group. On the occasion, the king or the intellectual in the group unites various stories for the past into the single story. The story establishes itself as only legitimate discourse and becomes a general history for the group.  This article will investigate how regional history in Noto was created, focusing on regional historian Toshiki Asaka and his historical narrative of ritual.
 In his historical view, there was a tendency to seek for a regional identity in the ancient and narrate it as historical fact. In his effort to demonstrate it,  he extract edevidences from historical materials in the Middle Ages. We can recognize his attitude to overcome the Ura-Nihon ldeology,  through sweeping away the "dark" history of Hokuriku region before the modern period and finding out an identity in the region which has been subordinate in the modern nation stateJapan. When this sort of his idea got into his historical narrative, the  narrative expressed praised the ancient in  Noto and assumed the inclination toward the ancient. In this way, history is under the influence of person weaving various stories,  sowe must take notice of such a person in examining the process of creating history.
