筆者が継続的に研究を続けている第10回国際日本美術展（東京ビエンナーレ1970）について、関係者へのインタビューを計画的に行い、記録化することに取り組みたいと考えている。最初の対象者として、同展出品作家、河口龍夫氏にインタビューを行った。河口は同展のキュレーションを担った中原佑介と深い親交を築いた作家でもある。本インタビューは、当時の様子を聞くと共に、その後の長い作家活動を経た上で、改めて同展およびその出品作品について見返し、語ってもらう機会となった。それは、同展やその時代についてのコメントであると同時に、同展のコンセプトを構想し、作家を選んだ中原についての作家側からのコメントでもある。同展についてはアート・センターがアーカイヴ資料を所蔵しており、インタビューの記録化はアーカイヴ資料の充実の一端を担うものとなるだろう。
The author, who has been conducting ongoing research on the Tokyo Biennale 1970: Between Man and Matter, is planning to systematically interview and document the experiences of those involved. The first interviewee is Tatsuo Kawaguchi, an artist who participated in the exhibition. Kawaguchi was also a close associate of Yusuke Nakahara, the curator of the event. This interview provides an opportunity to revisit the exhibition and Kawaguchi＇s exhibited works from the perspective of his extensive subsequent career. It offers insights into the exhibition and the era, as well as comments on Nakahara＇s vision and artist selection from Kawaguchi＇s perspective. Keio University Art Center, which holds archival materials related to the exhibition, will further enrich its archives with the documentation of these interviews.
