I developed micro/nanoelectromechanical system(MEMS/NEMS) for microscale detection of elementary excitations such as phonon, roton, aiming to elucidate processes of excitation energy transport in superfluid helium. Photocurable resin resonators with bridged beam structure were fabricated using a 3D photofabrication machine. The fabrication condition established in the previous research enabled to prevent the step-cut of electrodes associated with stepwise blocks, and on top of that, Noda lab's plasma sputtering device in the department of electronics and electrical engineering enabled to directly deposit aluminium electrode films without a short to GND. I prepared micron-sized beam(MB) resonators with a width of 10μm, a thickness of 5μm and a length of 50μm as a first step, followed by aluminium wiring with a micromanipulator, tweezers and scissors. In resonance measurements in vacuum at 3.6 K with a GM cryostat, I observed a resonance peak at a frequency of 1.9 MHz by an AC current operation at a magnetic field of 50 mT. A numerical simulation for a beam-structure model using known parameters revealed that the observed resonance frequency is consistent with that in a fundamental mode in a supported end condition. In addition, I successfully observed some harmonic resonance modes in oscillation. I prepared another MB resonator with a width of 7μm and systematically investigated resonance properties of the resonators in vacuum at low temperatures. As a result, I first succeeded in resonance operation of MB resonators made of photocurable resin at a low temperature region. It is hopeful for the future to fabricate nano-sized resonators and demonstrate responses to elementary excitations in liquid-helium experiments. However, the issue remains that a Lorentzian fitting analysis revealed a low Q-value of 16 in resonance oscillation. A simulation with a finite element method using Comsol is ongoing for investigation of the Q-value issue. Improvement of resonator structure following the simulation results is desirable to realize a high Q-value in resonance.
