慶應義塾図書館所蔵「相良家文書」（重要文化財）のうちの「〈自文明年中至永禄年中〉当家日記」は、一般に「八代日記」として知られる中世史料の原本である。既往の研究で利用されてきた刊本が、東京大学史料編纂所に架蔵されている謄写本をベースとしており、明白な写し間違いが散見するのも知られていることから、本研究では、この重要史料を広く研究者の利用に供するため、原本の写真と翻刻を併載した形の出版を目指すうえで必要な情報の収集を進めた。特に解題・索引に盛り込むべき史料の基礎情報や人名・地名・寺社名・事項等の詳細情報の収集・整理を計画の中心に据えたが、これが比較的順調に進み、当初見込んでいた現地調査の必要も生じなかったことから、旅費として支出する予定であった分を含めて研究費を最新の中世史料集（刊本）の購入に充て、これを参考に出版形態・体裁の検討にも踏み込んだ。この間、「八代日記」刊行に向けて出版社との交渉も行い、さらにその出版社の協力を得て科学研究費助成事業研究成果公開促進費（学術図書）にも応募した。研究成果公開促進費は残念ながら不採択となったが、そのことによって半年前の申請段階の原稿に拘束されず、本研究の成果に基づいてアップグレードしたものを出版することが可能になったので、史料解題への加筆修正を進めるとともに、史料原本の翻刻・傍注と索引の完成度をさらに高めるべく、原稿をまとめ直している。不採択通知が3月下旬だったので、修正作業を本研究の期間内に完了させるには至らなかったが、最終的に出版される『原本　八代日記』の質が評価されるとすれば、そこに本研究の成果が大きく貢献していることを強調しておきたい。
Among the "Sagara Family Documents" (Important Cultural Property) owned by the Keio University Library, there is the original of a medieval historical document commonly known as the "Yatsushiro Nikki" (Yatsushiro Diary). The edition that has been used in past research is based on a manuscript copy held at the Tokyo University Historiographical Institute, and it is known to contain clear errors. In order to make this important historical material widely available for researchers, I have been collecting the information necessary to publish it in the form of both facsimile and transcriptions. In particular, I focused on collecting and organizing basic information on historical materials and detailed information on names of people, places, temples, shrines, and matters that should be included in the indexes. Based on the results of the research, I am working on the revision and correction of the historical materials analysis and index to improve the completeness of the transcription and annotations of the original historical materials. The revision work could not be completed within the research period, but if the quality of the "Original Yatsushiro Diary" that is finally published is evaluated positively, it should be emphasized that this research has made a significant contribution.
