今日、日本の教育思想史研究において、前近代日本の教育思想に関する研究は不振を極めている。教育思想史研究の現状は、依然として、西洋の教育思想に着眼するものが大半を占めている。しかし、この国の教育認識の思想史的土壌を学問的に吟味するには、西洋由来の教育思想の研究ですべてが尽くされるはずはない。本研究は、この認識に基づき、改めて江戸時代の教育思想の諸動向を通史的に描出することで、日本の教育思想史の脈流の重要な一端を明らかにすることを目的とする。
より具体的にいえば、本研究は、江戸時代の教育思想史の諸動向を、（1）幕初～享保期、（2）享保期～寛政期、（3）寛政期以後、の時期に大別して考察しようとするものである。今年度については、寛政期から天保期までの江戸教育思想の史的展開の叙述をほぼ終えることができたが、全体的な通史叙述完了までには、いましばらくの時間を要することになる。
なお、今年度の研究成果の一部については、教育哲学会の機関誌『教育哲学研究』第125号（2022年5月刊行予定）に「再考＜江戸教育思想史研究＞」と題する小論を掲載する予定である。
Today, in the history of Japanese educational thought, research on pre-modern Japanese educational thought is in a slump. The current state of research in the history of educational thought is still dominated by those focusing on Western educational thought. However, in order to academically examine the ideological and historical soil of educational recognition in this country, the study of educational thought of Western origin cannot be exhaustive. Based on this understanding, this study aims to clarify an important part of the vein of educational thought in Japan by providing a comprehensive history of the trends in educational thought during the Edo period.
This study aims to examine various trends in the history of educational thought in the Edo period, roughly divided into the following periods: (1) the beginning of the Edo period to the Kyoho period, (2) the Kyoho period to the Kansei period, and (3) the Kansei period and after. In this year, I have finished describing the historical development of Edo educational thought from the Kansei period to the Tempo period, but it will take some time to complete the entire history.
Part of the results of this year's research will be published in an essay entitled "Reconsidering the History of Edo Educational Thought" in the Society for Philosophy of Education's journal, Studies in Philosophy of Education, No. 125 (scheduled for publication in May 2022).
