制度や組織の設計の難しさは、様々な情報制約がある状況で、構成員の行動を適切に制御することの必要性にある。特に、組織の構成員がお互いに情報を交換し、秘密裏に共謀関係を形成してルールを逸脱する「結託」があるとき問題はさらに深刻となる。この問題に対処するためにどのような制度設計が必要となるのかを分析した多くの既存研究がある。本研究は、契約理論で標準的アプローチである逆選択環境下でのプリンシパル＝エージェントモデルを用いて、エージェント間での結託・共謀活動がある状況での最適な契約形態を分析した。本研究プロジェクトの成果の一つは、"Consulting Collusive Experts"という論題の論文にまとめられ、学術雑誌 Games and Economic Behaviorに掲載された。この研究はBoston Universityの Mookherjee教授、University of New South WalesのMotta教授と共同で行われた。さらに、この研究を二つの方向に発展させる研究にも従事した。一つは、非対称情報下にあるエージェントのタイプを連続空間から離散空間に変えることで、既存研究では描写されていない重要な効果を明確にした研究である。この研究は、"Combating Ex Ante Collusion in Discrete-Type Environments"という論題の論文にまとめられ、学術雑誌への投稿に向けて現在改訂中である。もう一つは、他者の結託参加を強制する力を持つ者の存在を前提として、より強いタイプの結託が形成されるときに、結果がどう変わるかを分析する研究である。この研究は、Boston UniversityのMookherjee教授と共同研究として行われ、"Regulatory Mechanism Design with Strong Collusion"という論題の論文としてまとめられた。現在、国際的学術雑誌に投稿中である。
The difficulty in the design of institutions and organizations is in the necessity of controlling incentives of agents in environments with asymmetric information. Particularly, the problem becomes much more severe, when the agents, as member of organizations, take collusive behaviors, exchanging information one anther secretly. There are many existing studies to examine the organizational design in such environments with collusion. In this research project, I analyzed the optimal contract form in the presence of collusion, using a standard principal-agent model with adverse selection problem. First, one article "Consulting Collusive Experts" (joint with Dilip Mookherjee (Boston University) and Alberto Motta (University of New South Wales)) was published in international academic journal, Games and Economic Behavior. I also proceeded with two researches to extend this study. First, I examined implications of collusion in the economic environment with discrete-type space of the agent, in the article titled "Combating Ex Ante Collusion in Discrete-Type Environments", which is under revision for submission to an academic journal. The other is the analysis of implications of a stronger type of collusion which is created with the presence of a powerful agent who enforces the participation of the other agents to the coalition. This was completed as the article titled "Regulatory Mechanism Design with Strong Collusion" (joint with Dilip Mookherjee), which is now under review of an academic journal.
