増加の一途である、健康医療分野の一般市民向けの情報について、いかに選別し質の高い情報を市民に届けられるようにするのか、問題は山積している。その中で、確かな情報を提供する拠点としての役割を担っている患者図書室と公共図書館の体制は、スタッフに知識や経験が求められるのにもかかわらず十分とは言えない。本研究では、知識と経験を備えた患者図書室と公共図書館のスタッフがそれぞれの組織において選書した図書を中心とした情報源についてその図書の特徴ならびに選んだ理由を共有することによって、組織や地域を超えて、市民向け医療健康情報サービスの質を高めるようにするための要件と方法の検討を行なった。
趣旨に賛同した協働選書メンバーによって共有された図書とその選定理由とワーキングループでの話し合いをトランスクリプトにして分析することにより、1)健康医療分野の情報のフィルタリング機能を実現させるための、情報の評価基準や考慮すべき点を分析している。これに基づいて、人材育成やサービス設計のための材料として提供する予定である。2)協働のアウトプットは、複数のメンバーによって有用とされた、健康医療分野における図書のリストである。2県の地域図書館へのリストの提供を通じて、公共図書館で有効に活用できるような方策、例えば検索やリストの作成が可能な専用のシステム設計のための要件を明らかにしつつある。3)組織を超えた協働のデザインと、それを持続可能にするための社会技術的要件を明らかにし、あらためてプロトタイプを作成したところである。
今後は、このプロトタイプの下で協働への参加者を増やしながら、質の高い健康医療情報の提供を広めると共に、参加者の所属する組織が各地域の組織との連携を深めることで、質の高い情報を患者・家族並びに介護従事者に届けられるような方法を検討することも求められる。さらに、質の高い健康医療情報の提供の理論的位置付けの検討も求められる。
There has been a great increase in the medical and health information that is available to patients and their families, i.e., citizens, but difficulties have emerged in terms of how to filter the information so the citizens can benefit from information that is of good quality. Both patient libraries and public libraries can be good touch points for citizens to acquire such information, yet those organizations usually suffer from poor conditions in both knowledge and human resource management. In this project, we explored the necessary conditions and methods for designing an inter-organizational collaboration so that librarians with expertise can leverage their efforts in selecting medical and health information of good quality.
Through an analysis of the information contained in the books shared by the participants as well as an analysis of the discussions about the books by working group members of this collaborative selection of medical and health information, considerations for selecting books for non-medical professionals, including the criteria for selection, have been unveiled. This is expected to contribute to human resource management and training of staff in the future. The output of the collaboration has been shared with libraries in two prefectures, and as a result, the methods and the considerations necessary for such utilization of outputs of this collaborative effort have been identified. We also identified the requirements for this collaborative effort to be sustainable, based on which we developed a prototype of a specialized system.
We will continue improving this effort by identifying issues that may hinder its efficacy by looking at the experiences of the participant members. Moreover, we will consider ways through which this effort will be effectively embedded in each local area, so that selected medical and health information will be used by those who need it.
