江戸時代後期に起こった狂歌ブームを受けて、19 世紀徳川期に身分を越えた人々が行った全国的な連動と知的交流についてに注目し、以下の二点を課題に研究を行っている。
1、文学・美術・芸能・歴史と領域横断的な知見を得ること
2、海外の日本語がわからない担当者(司書・学芸員)がいる所蔵機関にも資料が多くあるため、研究成果をオンライン上でどのように提供していくか
昨年度の調査を踏まえ、今年度も上記の二点を念頭に、研究の起点となった長州藩主毛利斉元の文芸活動の調査を継続しながら、さらに調査範囲を広げて同門の狂歌師・狂歌連の活動の記録ともいうべき、番付(投歌のランキング、これを何ヶ月か続けて高得点の作品を本の狂歌集に掲載する)や、全国に投歌を呼びかける広告類を中心に撮影・調査を行い、それらを翻刻しつつ、データベース化をめざしデータ収集を、またこの研究活動に関わる発表を行った。
コロナ感染拡大で、予定されていた調査が数回中止となったが、概ね計画に従って次の事を行った。
■狂歌関連の古典籍、肉筆画賛、摺物などの撮影・調査(茶梅亭文庫、慶應義塾大学図書館、太田記念美術館、千葉市美術館、個人蔵)
■藩政日記、周辺資料調査(山口県文書館)
■人吉藩主相良頼徳と周辺人物の狂歌関連資料の撮影・調査(人吉歴史館相良神社寄託資料、個人宅)
■ヘルシンキ国立図書館、フィンランド国立図書館の調査(対象資料の所蔵はみつからなかった)
■「俳諧歌見聞百首」ほか、森羅亭万象周辺狂歌連による投歌用の広告類・番付のデータ化と狂歌師データベース準備
■「江戸廼花也歌集」のための翻刻 (『俳諧歌東西百首』、)

While focusing on the national reactive movement and intellectual exchange beyond the social status during the Tokugawa period in the 19th century after the boom of Kyōka (playful verses) in the late Edo period, The study conducts a research for the following two items.
1. To obtain cross-disciplinary knowledge of literature, art, entertainment, and history
2. To find how we can provide our research results through the Internet since a number of historical materials are still preserved in the archival institutions even without responsible persons (librarians/curators) who do not understand Japanese language
In reference to the last years' research, the research continued conducting a research of literary activities for the lord of the Chōshu domain Mōri Narimoto as a research origin in this year. In addition, with the expansion of the investigation scope, we photographed/investigated the poetry ranking (the ranking by sending poetries to the event host: the poetries with high score for several months will be posted and published in the collection of Kyōka) as the activity record of Kyōka poets/Kyōka group as his fellow disciples and also advertisements to ask Kyōka poets across the country to send Kyōka. Furthermore, we also aim to transcript them and then create a database with use of the data. We also presented the research-related activities.
Although the planned investigation was discontinued several times due to the spread of Coronavirus infection, we still could proceed the following activities almost as scheduled.
□Photographing/investigation such as for classical document, original painting, and Surimono (print) in relation to Kyōka (Sabaitei Bunko, Keio University Library, Ōta Memorial Museum of Art, Chiba City Museum of Art, and personal collection)
□The diary of domain administration, the surrounding resource research (Yamaguchi Prefectural Archives)
□Photograph/investigation of Kyōka-related materials for the lord of the Hitoyoshi domain Noriyori Sagara and surrounding people (Deposited materials of Sagara shrine at Hitoyoshi History Museum, personal residence)
□Investigation at Helsinki National Library and Finland National Library (Found no materials subject to the research)
□Preparation of the digitalization of advertisements/ranking for Kyōka and also the database for Kyōka poets by Kyōka group related to "Haikaika kenbun hyakushu" and Sinratei Manzō.
□Transcription of the poetry collection by Edo-no-Hananari ("Haikaika tōzai hyakushu")
□Discussant for the panel "Defining Space in East Asian Ritual and Performance" in Asian Studies Conference Japan (ASCJ)
□Planning and management for the symposium "A reading method for Kuzushi-ji (character written in a cursive style) with AI system " and the panelist "Report on 'Let's learn Kuzushi-ji with AI system' "
