3年計画で進めてきた「廣瀨淡窓・旭荘の教育観の研究及び福澤諭吉との関係における新たな歴史的知見の発見」の３年目である。今年度は、より具体的な「廣瀨家と福澤諭吉」、「咸宜園の教えと慶應義塾の教育」という２つの繋がりを見つけるべく研究を進め、咸宜園研究センターでの資料や文献調査及び聞き取り調査、中之島図書館での文献調査及び、緒方洪庵記念財団の方への聞き取り調査等を行った。
前回までの研究で、廣瀨敬四郎や横田國臣らが明治４年に慶應義塾に入塾した頃と時を同じくして、福澤諭吉を暗殺する計画まで企てた朝吹英二が入塾している事が分かった。朝吹英二は咸宜園で学んだ事があり、更に同じ大分県出身なので、朝吹英二の記録や子孫からの聞き取り調査によって、上記に関する新たな手がかりを見つける事が出来るかもしれないと考え模索してきた。今年度の研究により、朝吹英二に関する著書が極端に少なく、朝吹英二がどのようにして慶應義塾に入塾するまでに至ったのかという事はあまり知られていないという事が分かった。また、大分出身の人たちとの繋がりに関して情報を得る事ができなかった。それ故、残念ながら、今年度の研究だけでは思い通りの調査を進める事ができず、大きな進捗を得られる発見は無かった。今年度だけではなかなか直接話を伺うには至らなかった朝吹家の方から聞き取り調査を今度、何とかして実現し、その２点について研究をすすめていくべきだという気持ちは強まった。
また、これまでの調査・研究によって、咸宜園及び、大分県出身の入塾者が他の地域に比べてとても多かった事や、咸宜園の教育方法と慶應義塾の教育との間の数多くの共通点や、更には両者の関係性を示唆する廣瀨家代々の口伝があることが示された。また、旭荘は発行する前の福沢諭吉の書物に校正の手直しをしている資料も見つける事が出来た。まずはこれらの成果を取りまとめて発表及び記録を行い、これをもとに今後も調査・研究を継続する予定である。
The work is now in its third year of a three-year program.This work is the study of Tanso Hirose and Kyokuso Hirose's views on education and the discovery of new historical knowledge in relations with Fukuzawa Yukichi.
This year, in its third year, it has been conducting research to find a more concrete connection between "Yukichi Fukuzawa and Hirose family" and "Kangien's teaching and Keio Gijuku's education".
I hoped to find some tips on them, and continued to research and interview materials, literature research and interviews at the Kangien Research Center, literature research at the Nakajima Library, and interviews with the Koan Ogata Foundation.
In addition, the previous research showed that Eiji Asabuki, who had planned to assassinate Yukichi Fukuzawa, attended a private academy at the same time as that of Keishiro Hirose(He is Kyokuso's son and my great-grandofather)and Kuniomi Yokota, who joined Keio-juku in the 4th year of the Meiji era.
Asabuki Eiji has learned at Kangien and is from the same Oita prefecture, so I have been searching for new clues about the above through his records and interviews with descendants.
According to this year's study, few books were written about Asabuki Eiji, and it has been found that it is not well known how he came to enter Keio Gijuku.
Unfortunately, this year's research alone had not been able to proceed as planned, and no major progress had been made.
I felt strongly that I should do some research on the two points by interviewing Asabuki family, who had not been able to talk to me in this fiscal year alone.
And there are other things, previous research and studies have revealed the following:
1.There were a lot of students from Kangien and Oita prefecture compared to other regions.
2.There are many things in common between the method of education at Kangien and Keio Gijuku.
3.There is an oral message from generations of families suggesting a relationship between the two.
4.I was able to find the materials.The materials are from Kyokuso, who is making corrections to Fukuzawa Yukichi's books before they are published.
First of all, we plan to compile these results and publish and record them.Based on this, I plan to continue this research and study.
