人工知能やビッグデータの活用を中心とする科学技術革新が急激に進展している。それにともなって、第4次産業革命やSocety 5.0の到来などが想定されている。そうした大きな社会変動は、教育や学習のあり方に根本的な再検討を迫っている。これにいわゆる「グローバル化」の趨勢も加わって、社会の構成員としての市民が習得することが求められる知の内容や獲得様式、その処理の仕方や活用の方法について、新たな概念構成と政策化・実践化のための理論構築を行うことが喫緊の課題となっている。本研究は、こうした課題に対して、比較大学史・大学論の観点から、基礎理論の構築をめざす。大学・高等教育における教養形成やリベラル・アーツ、そしてそれと深く関連する人文学・社会科学の研究教育は、科学技術の革新からどのような影響を受けるのか。また逆にそれらは、科学技術革新にどのような影響を与えるのか。研究期間全体を通して、日本と海外（イギリスおよびアメリカ）における先進的な事例の検討、さらに過去の技術革新と教養形成やリベラル・アーツ・ラーニングに関する歴史的検討を行う。今年度は、研究動向全体の把握に努めるとともに、イギリスにおける現状および歴史的な事例に関する資料収集を行った。これまでの教育学では、人工知能やビッグデータの活用などの科学技術革新と教育との関係を検討しようとする研究は、未だ活発化していない。必ずしも多くはない研究成果についても、教育への技術革新の利活用の議論が中心になっていることが明らかになった。また現在進行している科学技術革新と教育や教養形成の関係を考える際にも、歴史的な視野から原理探究的に考察することが必要であることも明らかになった。今年度は、歴史的に産業革命や技術革新が、大学・高等教育に大きな影響を与えたイギリスにおける現地調査を実施し、比較史的観点から行う考察の方法論的基盤構成を行った。
As scientific and technological innovation, particularly the use of artificial intelligence and big data is developing rapidly, we are expecting the forth industrial revolution and the coming of Society 5.0. Such a large social change is urging a fundamental reconsideration of education and learning. In addition to the so-called "globalization" trend, a new conception of the content, acquisition mode and application style of knowledge that citizens are required to acquire must be reconstructed immediately. This study aims to construct a fundamental theory for these issues from the viewpoint of comparative history and theory of higher learning. What is the impact of science and technology innovation on liberal arts, humanities and social science research and teaching in higher learning? On the contrary, how do they affect science and technology innovation? This year, I worked to understand the overall research trends and collected information on the current situation and historical cases in the UK. where the industrial revolution and technological innovation have historically had a significant impact on higher learning, and constructed a methodological basis for consideration from a comparative historical perspective.
