昨年度に引き続き、1998 年以来、科研費・HFSP・JSTなどの外部資金によって継続している大規模双生児研究の調査データを統合し、人間の心理的・行動的な発達と教育による学習の成果に及ぼす遺伝と環境のかかわりを、縦断的かつ包括的に解明する基盤づくりを進めるために、これまでに取り切れなかったデータの追加、ならびに未整理のデータの入力、紙媒体の質問紙の整理等の作業、すなわち来校形式による発達調査(認知能力、実行機能、社会性など)、質問紙法による社会的行動、学業成績、教育環境、家庭環境、医学的形質などの調査を実施、データ入力まで行った
これまでのデータを利用して、特に眼科(慶應義塾大学医学部眼科・坪田一男教授・鳥居秀成特任助教との共同研究)により、視力とドライアイの傾向に関する遺伝と環境の寄与に関する分析を行い、視力には40%ほどの遺伝の影響があるが、ドライアイ傾向には遺伝影響が乏しく、共有環境の影響が有意にあるという示唆について、学会発表によって発信した、
研究成果は一般書(『「なぜヒトは学ぶのか－教育を生物学的に考える』講談社現代新書)の出版にも役立てられ、またこれまでの研究成果(論文、学会ポスター発表、学会高等発表)やフィードバックのためのニュースレターなどを記録としてまとめた。
Research activities and data inputs were continuously conducted which included questionnaire investigation of social behavior, academic attainment, education/family environment and medical traits as well as behavioral assessments of cognitive abilities, executive function and sociability from a developmental view point. These data items are continuously being collected from twin participants of a large scale twin cohort studies funded by the Grant-In-Aids, Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP), the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and other grants since 1998, in order to clarify genetic and environmental effects and their interactional influences on development and educational learning in human psychological and behavioral aspects 
In this academic year, genetic and environmental contribution on ophthalmic traits (dry eye tendency and visual acuity) were examinated and indicated that visual acuity is 40% heritable but dry eye is completely environmental ( this study was collaborated with Dr. Kazuo Tsubota and Dr. Hidenari Torii) which was presented in an academic meeting.
Books (e.g. "Why do humans learn? Education from biological point of view." (Kodansha) were published for general readers based upon our attainment and those scientific activities and outcomes were reported via news letters to twin participants.
