本研究は本来、1970年代のスペイン民主化時代を対象としている。しかし学問的関心の背景には、現代スペインにおいて、ともすればこれまで神話化されがちであった70年代スペイン民主化の再評価の流れが学術界と政治の実務の世界において生まれたという事実がある。そしてその学術界と政治の実務双方における主体は、人的には重なる部分が大きい。つまり、2014年に設立されその後国会第４の勢力にまで成長した政党ポデモスや、そのポデモスと行動を共にしていた市民運動に由来のある地域の小政党の創設メンバーである、政治学者・社会学者・歴史学者たちである。
今年度については、応募者の個人的事情（手術に前後する休職）もあり、本来扱うべき1970年代ではなく、その前提となる現代スペインにおける、特にポデモスについての調査研究、およびポデモスの主体となった学者たちにとっての理論的な背景となっているラディカル・デモクラシー論と政治的言説研究についてのリサーチに終始した。
その結果は、2019年４月刊行の大賀哲・仁平典宏・山本圭『共生社会の再構築II　デモクラシーと境界線の再定位』の第７章「社会運動か政党か　スペインの新政党ポデモスにおける内部対立に見る党内デモクラシーの変遷」として公になる。
同論文では、ポデモスにおけう「党内デモクラシー」の自己定義は、その内部対立を経て変遷しているということ、および、その内部対立の存在そのものが党の民主的健全性を示すものとして扱われていることが示されている。
他方、未完である今後の調査とも関わるため同論文では明示しなかったが、ポデモスの中心的な知識人政治家たちの少なくない部分が中間層出身、かつ自身も会社を経営するなど中小企業主であり、その点では70年代の民主化と共通している。その上で、ポデモスが70年代の民主化に対して極めて批判的であることを考えると、結果的にスペインの民主主義の展開において中心となっている社会階層は、70年代から現在まで一定しているという可能性が示唆される。
ただしこの点については、今後70年代民主化における中間層の動向を精査しなくてはならない。
This study is focused on the political transition in Spain in 70's. But at the background of the academic interest of this study is the fact that it's in this decade of 2010's when the reevaluation of Spanish political transition in 70's is put forward as an issue in the academic and political world. Actually, there is striking coincidence between those who are intending to reevaluate the 70's from the academia and the political life: most of them are the very founders of the new left populist party Podemos and they were political scientists, sociologists, and historians who had worked in the same university.
In this academic year 2018, partially because of a personal situation (sick leave due to cardiac operation), my research focused exclusively on Podemos and the political thoughts (i.e.: radical democracy theory, political discourse analysis, etc.) of its intellectuals, not on the Spanish political transition. The result of this year's activity will be published on April 2019, as Ch. 7 "Social Movement or Political Party?: Transformation of Intraparty Democracy observed in the Intraparty Conflicts" of the book "Reconstruction of a Society of Coexistence Vol. 2: Redefinition of Democracy and Borderlines" (Kyoto: Horitsu-Bunka Sha). In that contribution I described the changes in the definition of intraparty democracy generated by conflict within the party and that their presupposition is that the very existence of the intraparty conflict is an indicator of the "healthiness" of their intraparty democracy. On the other hand, I think there is an possibility that those intellectuals of Podemos coincide with the ones who played a major role in the Spanish transition in the 70's in the sense that they both are from middle class family or theirselves are small and medium sized business owners, although this hypothesis is not explicitly stated in the book and the 70's intellectuals will be studied in my future project.
