本研究の目的は、長州藩主毛利斉元（狂歌名　江戸廼花也、1794-1836)が制作した狂歌摺物（浮世絵）を手がかりに、広い地域の人々と身分を超えた文芸的交流を明らかにすることにある。同時に、彼の浮世絵の多くが海外に渡っているため、日本のみならず海外の研究者にも寄与する発信の仕方を考えている。
計画に従って、主として以下の作業を行った。
1、国内にある鹿都部真顔門下の狂歌関連資料の発掘と調査。調査を行った茶梅亭文庫で花也や大名およびその関係者と思われる人物が参加している狂歌集（36種）や、それを作るための番付（4、全国から投稿された歌を順位付けしたもの）や広告（2、投稿費用などがかかれたもの）が多数見つかり、この資料に集中してデータ収集と整理を行った。今後は花也の歌集編纂を目指すこととしたい。
2、コペンハーゲンデザイン博物館の狂歌摺物調査。多くの摺物があったが、残念ながら花也の摺物は発見できなかった。
3、山口県立文書館にある斉元時代の長州藩藩政史料の調査。特に藩主の行動が書かれた日誌類を中心に行った。また萩博物館に出向き、日本にほとんど存在しない花也の摺物を広く一般に紹介する手立てを話しあった。
4、既存データベースの拡充（毛利斉元の狂歌摺物）。
なお、海外においては、ローマ字表記、日本の古典籍に関する用語といった、基本的な事柄に混乱が生じていることが、専門家の間で問題になっている。さらに海外の図書館・博物館などでは日本語を読み書きできない担当者が多くなってきており、データベースから日本語表記を排除する動きもある。こうした状況から、日本と海外の研究者にとって役に立つ目録を作るにはどうしたらいいか、同じ問題意識を持つコペンハーゲン大学の司書だったメレーテ・ペダーセンと共に、コペンハーゲン国立美術館蔵の資料をもとに一つの試作品を制作し、その結果を日本資料専門家欧州協会のカウナス大会で共同発表した。
The study aims to clarify literary intercommunion of people beyond social standing and a wide regional area on the basis of Ukiyo-e (Japanese woodblock prints) produced by Mōri Narimoto (1794-1836 ) or the lord of the Chōshū domain (also using the pen name Edo no Hananari for playful verses: kyōka). Simultaneously, the study also examines a communication method to contribute not only to Japanese researchers but also to foreign researchers since a number of his Ukiyo-e were brought to overseas.

The study was mainly conducted in accordance with the following procedures in the plan.
1. Discover and research the kyōka-related materials regarding the disciples of Shikatsube no Magao in Japan. Because I found the kyōka collection with the participation of Hananari and feudal lords through the research of Sabaitei Bunko, 36 of the rare books, 4 of the rankings (the rankings for kyōka submitted from all over the country), and 2 of advertisements (description of poetry submission costs), the data collection and arrangement were conducted by focusing on these materials. In future, I would like to achieve compilation for the kyōka of Hananari.

2. Research for kyōka surimono at Designmuseum Danmark (Danish Design Museum). Although there were many kyōka Surimono in the museum, unfortunately the prints by Hananari could not be found.

3. Research for the hisotrical materials of the Chōshū domain during the Narimoto era at Yamaguchi Prefectural Archives. Particularly, I have mainly searched for the diaries describing the lord activities. In addition, I also visited Hagi Museum and discussed a method to widely introduce Hananari's prints to the public even they rarely exist in Japan.

4. Expansion of the existing database (kyōka Surimono by Mōri Narimoto)
 
A problem arises among the experts overseas due to a confusion in basics such as romanization and term of the Japanese classical books. Furthermore, since many librarians/curators at libraries/museums can not read and write Japanese language, there is a movement to eliminate Japanese notation from the database. In such circumstances, for finding out how a list or catalog should be prepared for both Japanese and foreign researchers, we prepared a trial catalog in cooperation with Merete Pedersen as a librarian at University of Copenhagen who is sharing the same awareness of the issue by utilizing the materials at the National Gallery of Denmark (Statens Museum for Kunst), then we jointly presented the results at the Kaunas conference held by European Association of Japanese Resource Specialists.
