慶應義塾は約160ヘクタールの山林(所有林；80.73ha 分収林80.86haほか)を本州各地に持ち,大学における調査や活動、小学校や高等学校の活動に使用されている.しかしながら,塾内の中学校や複数の学校や学年を超えた学校林における活動はほとんどない.本研究の目的は，慶應義塾の学校林を利用し学年や学校を連携して,植生等の生物調査をすることである.そのための予備調査として2018年8月と9月に和歌山県有田郡有田川町にある「和歌山県清水の森」（4.68ha）と岡山県真庭市にある「岡山落合の森」(2.55ha)を地元企業の協力を得て,現地調査をおこなった.平均斜度は調査結果から,「和歌山県清水の森」は標高350mから600mの斜面にありスギ・ヒノキを中心とする人工林であり,一部にモミやヤマザクラの二次林が存在した.平均斜度は40°であった.「岡山落合の森」は標高510mから530mにあり,クヌギ・コナラ・アカマツ・カラマツ等を中心とした二次林であった.平均斜度は10°未満であり.水源かん養保安林になっている。筆者は一貫教育における中学生から大学生まで連携した臨海実習（谷口ら2010）や立科山荘における夏期野外調査（谷口ら2013）をおこなってきた.塾内の学校林でも,人工林と二次林の生物調査や植林・樹木の成長・昆虫・シカの食害の影響などを学年・学校を連携して現地調査をおこなうことができると考えられた.特に中等教育の生物学の学習の中で人工林の生態や植生に関するものはほとんどない.しかしながら林野庁によると平成29年の日本の人工林率は平均41％もある.人工林は身近な山林にも多くあり,この生態や成長を中高生や林学のない大学生が学ぶのに学校林は極めて有効である.また二次林と比較することにより,塾内の学校林が、中高生や大学生にとって日本における山林の生態について自ら学ぶ場所となりえる.
Keio university and Keio affilicted schools have about 160 hectares of forest (owned forest; 80.73 hectares, other forests 80.86 hectares, etc) located all over Honshu, which is used for some researches of university and activities of the primary school and the high school. While studying, there are few activities in junior high schools in the corporation and in school forests that are beyond schools and grade levels. The purpose of this research is to utilize our school forests, collaborate with another schools and anothergrade levels, and conduct biological survey such as vegetation. As a preliminary survey for that purpose, I conducted investigations in August and September 2018 at Arita-gun, Aritagawa-cho Wakayama prefecture "Wakayama Shimizu no Mori (4.68 ha) "and Maniwa city, Okayama prefecture "Okayama Ochiai no Mori(2.55 ha)". According to the survey results, the "Wakayama Shimizu no Mori" was a slope of 350 m to 600 m above sea level and was an artificial forest mainly of Cryptomeria japonica and Chamaecypar was obtusa and which had secondary forests of Abies firma and Cerasus jamasakura. The average slope was 40 °. "Okayama Ochiai no Mori" was located at an altitude of 510 m to 530 m, and was a secondary forest mainly including Quercus acutissima, Quercus serrata, Pinus densiflora, Larix kaempferi and the like. The average slope was less than 10 °. Field survey was conducted with the cooperation of local companies. From the survey results, it can be considered that field studies can be conducted in school forests by collaborating with school and school on the biological investigation of artificial forest and natural forest, the afforestation, growth of trees, influence of insect, deer feeding damage, etc. By using the school forests, for students of Keio univercity and Keio affilicted schools, can become a place to learn about the ecology of forests in Japan themselves.
