まず学習用辞典のサーベイを行い、語彙情報の記述のためのフォーマットを比較検討した。多義語の記述においては理論的なバックボーンが乏しいこと、その一方で、学習者の便宜を考えると頻度順の配列の方が望ましい場合があることを確認した。学習用辞典の情報を語彙の階層構造と統合し、大学レベルでのESP学習のためのツールを開発する方策を検討した。学術論文を作成するときには、それに適した語彙を選ぶことが求められるが、日常的な表現しか使えない学生も多い。CEFT B-Cで指定されているような語彙項目について、階層的な構成を提示することで、基礎語彙から上級語彙への移行が達成されると思われる。理論的な面では、いくつかの語彙項目を選んで、それと結びついた文化フレームの詳細な分析を行うことを試みた。また、文脈との相互作用が主となる語彙項目について、辞書においてそれをどのように記述すべきかについての考察も行った。
First a survey of learner's dictionary was made, and their formats for organizing lexical information were compared. It was noted that most dictionaries lack a theoretical backbone in the description of polysemous words, and also that for learning purpose frequency-based arrangement of meanings are more practical in many cases. Method for integrating dictionary information and hierarchical lexical organization was explored with a view to developing a learning tool for ESP at the university level. It is necessary to use specific vocabulary when writing an academic article, but students tend to resort to basic-level words. By providing a thesaurus-like organization of lexical items such as those specified by CEFR B-C, a smooth transition from basic to learned vocabulary will be achieved. On the theoretical side, attempts have been made to give a detailed lexical analysis of some selected words and associated cultural frames. Also, ways to describe lexical items whose main functioning involves interaction with contextual information were considered.
