3年計画の2年目にあたる本年度は, 夏休みにメキシコで調査をおこない, 新しい資料の収集とその読解を進めた。
カンペチェ州立文書館(カンペチェ州カンペチェ市)では, 予想に反して1930年代のチクル産業に関する資料が少なかったが, 1940年代に関しては, チクル採取人(チクレーロ)ひとりひとりの月ごとのチクル生産量やその取引額, 取引相手などの細かい資料が見つかり, 当時のチクル産業の実情を把握するために貴重な手がかりとなった。同様の資料は, キンタナロー州立文書館(キンタナロー州チェトゥマル市)でも, 1950年代のキンタナローに関して見つかった。
一方, メキシコ市の国立総文書館では, 資料の所蔵場所が別館に移され, 1日に閲覧可能な史料が10件までと制限されるなどのシステムの変更があり, 短期間で多くの資料を閲覧することが難しくなった。資料の通し番号も変更されたために, 存在することはたしかな資料の閲覧ができないことも多くあり, 想定していたような成果が上げられなかった。
今年度の史料調査の結果として, 生産者(チクレーロ)レベルのチクル産業の実態を伝えるような資料は, 主にカンペチェ, キンタナローの文書館にあるが, 1930年代に関してはほとんど残されていないことがわかった。メキシコ市の国立総文書館でこれまで資料を探した「大統領部門」と「内務省部門」には, そのようなチクル産業のミクロの情報を伝える資料は少ない。よって今後は, 国立総文書館の他部門の資料の調査と, アメリカ合州国のトゥレーン大学(ニューオーリンズ)に所蔵されている, 1930年代にキンタナロー知事を務めた人物の文書コレクションの収集をおこないたい。
This year, the second of the 3-year plan, I conducted a survey in Mexico during the summer vacation and gathered new materials.
In the Archivo General del Estado de Campeche (Campeche State Archives) I found few documents on the chicle industry in the 1930s, but as for the 1940s I found valuable documents which tell how many kilograms of chicle each chiclero produced, how much and to whom they sold it. Similar materials were found in the Archivo General del Estado de Quintana Roo (Quintana Roo State Archives).
On the other hand, in the Archivo General de la Nacion (National Archives of Mexico), I could not get satisfactory results, because of various technical problems.
As a result of the survey of this year, I found that the materials that convey the actual situation of the chicle industry at the producer (chiclero) level are mainly in the archives of Campeche and Quintana Roo, but there is little remained about the 1930s. The "Presidentes" section and the "Direccion General del Gobierno" section of the National Archives of Mexico have few detailed information on the chicle industry. Therefore, in the coming year, I would like to work on the materials of other sections of the National Archives of Mexico and the collection of an ex-governor of Quintana Roo in the 1930s, which is reserved in the Tulane University (New Orleans, USA).
