今年度は, 女性作家が歴史にどう取り組んだかを探るための一例として, 野上弥生子「迷路」を分析した。「迷路」は, 日中戦争を扱い, 国民文学論争を背景として書かれた小説である。民族やセクシュアリティにつながる血のイメジャリー, ヒューマニズムの概念, 東洋と西洋の文化の架橋といったテーマを分析した。一貫して教養ある女性登場人物を扱い, 反動的にもみえるが, 戦後の歴史のとらえなおしの文脈の中での庶民の理想化に別の視点を提供したといえる。この時期は, 文学史も見直され, 日本的な私小説の伝統が批判されて, 書くべき小説の種類についての議論もなされていた。「迷路」の構成, 語り, 視点なども, この問題にかかわっている。また, 戦前から戦後にかけて小説を書き続けている林芙美子についても, 自身の作風や自覚の変化, 評価の変化が同じ問題にかかわっていることを, 具体的に明らかにした。
一方で, 日本文学研究の歴史ということにも視野を広げ, 「鑑賞」という行為がどのような内容を指し, どのような状況において行われたかも調査した。研究史は一定の積み重ねがあるが, 理論的な経緯だけでなく, 状況とのかかわりを明らかにし, それぞれの時期に書かれた「文学史」の偏向を明らかにすることを, 今後も目指す。
申請時に挙げた, 板垣直子などの評論家についても, 期間内に成果を出すことができなかったため, 次年度の仮題としたい。
This year, I analyzed "Meiro (the Maze)" by Yaeko NOGANI as an example to explore how women writers worked on history.
"Meiro" is a novel written about the Japan-China War and the background of Kokumin Bungaku Ronso (the national literary controversy). I analyzed themes such as imagery of blood leading to ethnicity and sexuality, the concept of humanism, bridge of oriental and Western culture. Although it treats consistently educated female characters and appears reactive, it can be said that it provided a different viewpoint to the idealization of commoners in the context of the post-war history reconsideration. During this period, the tradition of Watakushi-Shosetsu was criticized as well as discussing about the type of novel to write in reconsideration of literary history. The composition, narrative, perspective of the "Meiro" are also concerned with this problem. In addition, Hayashi Fumiko who is writing novels from before World War II to the end of World War II is involved in the same problem. Specifically, I discussed changes in her style and changes in her evaluation by critics.
Meanwhile, I also expanded my horizons to the history of Japanese literature research and investigated what kind of content the action "Kansho (appreciation)" was and what kind of situation it was done. Although there is a constant accumulation of research histories, I aim to clarify not only theoretical perspectives but also the relationship with the situation, and to clarify the bias of "history of literature" written at each time.
As for female critics such as Naoko ITAGAKI mentioned at the time of application, it was impossible to produce results within the period, I would like to set as an issue for the next year.
