多種多様なイノベーションがスポーツの高度化と大衆化をもたらしたが、必ずしも日本スポーツ産業は発展していない。阻害要因は、日本人独自のスポーツ観、スポーツと「学校体育」の同一視、スポーツと「武道」の融合、「アマチュアリズム」という差別思想の神聖視、であった。日本人のスポーツ観に変化をもたらしたのがＪリーグである。Ｊリーグの制度や施策は産業界にはびこる偽りのリアリティを打ち壊したのである。それゆえに、Ｊリーグは日本スポーツ産業史上最大のイノベーションと位置付けられると考えられる。Although many kinds of innovations have improved and popularize sport, it does not mean that the Japanese sport industry has always grown. The disincentives are such Japanese own values in sport as identifying sport with physical education, integrating sport and martial arts, and deifying discrimination known as amateurism. The J-League changed those Japanese values, and the J-League's systems and activities crashed false reality in the Japanese sport industry. Therefore, the J-League is regarded as the greatest innovation in the history of the Japanese sport industry.
