| Abstract |
本研究では、従来日本では稀とされていた「うつ病」が1990年代以降、医療的な問題として台頭したことに注目し、鬱の「医療化」が人々の経験にどのような変化をもたらしているのかを分析した。現在、鬱の医療化がグローバルな規模で進行する中、鬱が生じた社会的状況が解決されないまま、個人の精神病理として対処されることで、病理の「個人化」が進み、社会矛盾が広がるとの懸念がある。しかし、日本ではうつ病を仕事が原因の(特に働き盛りの男性が陥る)疾病として理解することで、この病を社会的問題として捉え直そうとする動きがみられる。本研究では医療人類学の視点から、文献調査と人類学的フィールドワークを用い、このような日本における鬱の医療化の特徴を検証した。
