本稿は，ガス製造業者の原料石炭の確保および金属鉱山業者の電力確保の側面から，エネルギー産業と鉱山業との関連を考察した。名古屋瓦斯会社は，大都市名古屋に所在し，ガスを大量に供給するため，原料石炭を安定的に確保すべく炭鉱業へ進出した。一方，金沢電気瓦斯会社は，電気事業の広域化とガス事業の金沢市域への集中化を図った。1920年代に名古屋瓦斯会社は電力会社と合同し，名古屋では巨大民間企業が電力とガスの両方を供給することとなった。一方，金沢電気瓦斯会社の金沢市域の電気・ガス事業は市営化され，人口規模の違いにより，エネルギー産業の適正な経営形態があったことが窺われる。
In this research, we examine the relationship between the energy industry and mining industry from the aspects of securing raw coal for gas manufacturers and securing electricity for metal miners. Nagoya Gas Co., Ltd., which is located in Nagoya, advanced into coal mining to secure stable supply of raw coal to increase gas supply. On the other hand, Kanazawa Denki Gas Co., Ltd. attempted to expand its electric power business and concentrate its gas business in the Kanazawa City area. In 1920s, Nagoya Gas Co., Ltd. joined with an electric power company and large private companies started to supply electricity and gas in Nagoya. On the other hand, the electricity and gas business of Kanazawa Denki Gas Co., Ltd. in the Kanazawa City area was municipalized. This shows that the energy industry had an appropriate management system owing to the difference in population size.
