韓国の宗教家である咸錫憲と池明観の思想を追跡・分析することにより, 1)民衆(シアル)の思想と2)諸領域の全体性の回復を求めるという二つの社会史的認識論の特徴が, 両氏の思想の根底にあることを明らかにし, つづいてその認識論が戦前日本の植民地支配にたいする抵抗運動, および戦後韓国の軍事政権に対する民主化運動という現実の社会運動に彼等自身が参加するなかで形成されてきたこと, すなわち, 社会史的認識論は机上の抽象的歴史論ではなく, 現実の抵抗運動・社会運動のなかでダイナミックに形成され, それが運動に影響をあたえるという相互関連にあることを明らかにする。
By tracking and analyzing the ideas of Korea's religionists, Ham Sok Hon and Chi Myong Kwan, this study has found that two social historic epistemology features can be found at the root of their ideas: 1) Ideas of the People (Sial) and 2) The plea for restoration of the wholeness of the various territories. 
Next, this epistemology would be formed by their participation in actual social movements such as the resistance movements against prewar Japanese colonial rule and the movement for democracy against the military administration in postwar Korea. 
Hence, this study shows that social history epistemology is not a pedantic abstract theory of history, but rather a theory dynamically formed inside real resistance and social movements, affecting these movements and forming interactive relationships with them.
