| Abstract |
本稿は, 19世紀末から20世紀初頭にかけての生活環境の変化を歴史的にとらえる試みの一つとして, 日本における赤痢を事例として取り上げ, 生活環境の一つである患者や医師, 病院をとりまく環境やその関係性が赤痢患者の爆発的な増加と罹患率の上昇への対策によって転換させられたことを示す。そしてこの転換が, 20世紀初頭の日本の感染症対策の変遷を理解する手がかりであることを指摘する。
This paper establishes a historical understanding of the changes in living conditions from the late 19th to the early 20th centuries with reference to dysentery in Japan.
It examines how the explosive increase in patients and the measures against the rising morbidity changed the conditions surrounding patients, doctors and hospitals, and their relationship.
It also shows that these changes reveal a clue to understand the transition of Japanese preventive measures of infectious diseases at the beginning of the 20th century.
