This paper addresses post war criticisms of familism discussion about "democratization of family" in directly after the end of war, criticism of "a home-and-family-centered way of life" since 1960s, and consideration about "modern family" since late 1980s from a stand of sociology of knowledge. Familism in this paper implies that the value of "family" is prior to that of "individual", or that the former oppresses the later. Namely, this paper suggensts that post war criticisms of familism have problematized that "family" function to disturb "subjectivity" and "social solidarity" of "individual." So, this paper considers familism from focusing on "subjectivity" and "social solidarity."
The theme of this paper is to reconfirm consistent "viewpoint" of post war criticisms of familism. Further, the aim of this paper is to find a focus of criticisms of familism and issues of sociology of family. Such project can be located as an effective method of clarifying how to overcome familism.
