Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the association among consciousness of, support for, and prognosis of correspondence high school students. A questionnaire survey was conducted among students who had experienced non-attendance in junior high school. In their responses, students reported that the main reasons for their non-attendance were mainly "friendship" "learning", and "life rhythm". There were various factors in the students' non-attendance; some were introverted and others were rejective. There was a low-negative correlation between the number of non-attendance factors and the students' self-esteem score. In junior high school non-attendance students received support in the form of consultations from teachers and specialized agencies encouraging their motivation to attend and offering counseling. Nevertheless, students considered that their motivation was low despite this support. Students who indicated many non-attendance factors tende to negatively evaluate this support. According to the questionnaire results, about half of the students replied "not to return to non-attendance." In addition, their scores for "self-esteem"and "confidence in own future" were higher than those of ther students.
