本研究は、実験室等ではなく、真正性の高いコンテクストの中で実際に起こるインターアクションの内容を詳細に考察することを目的としたものである。今年度の大きな成果としては，2つ挙げられる。まず一つは，2018年度に行った予備研究の結果を2019年6月香港で開催されたIPrA国際学会（International Pragmatic Association Hong Kong 2019)で口頭発表を行ったことである。学会発表の後、ハワイ大学のクック治子教授と研究打ち合わせをし，また発表後に様々な国の参加者からコメントをいただけたのも今後の改善に役立つと思われる。二つ目の業績としては，これまでの2年間の研究結果を参考にし，海外研究者3名と共同で，教材を作成したことである。私は本研究テーマであるインターアクション関連の領域（具体的に言えば，発話行為，雑談，ターンテーキング等）を担当し，電子教材及び紙媒体の教材作成が年度内に完了した。また，まだ成果の発表までは至っていないが，英語の絵本の読み聞かせがL2学習者の動機づけに与える影響についての研究も完了した。更に，ストーリーリテリングのデータの一部の収集・分析まで遂行したが，その結果発表を予定していた2020年度3月のシンガポールでの国際学会が新型コロナウイルス感染拡大防止のため一年間延期になったため，残念ながら年度内の成果発表にまで至らなかった。しかし，シンガポールの共同研究者とは，追加データの収集などについて連絡を取り合っており，今後更に研究を発展させる目途もついている。HomePod，Ipadなどを使用し，資料検索・収集及びパイロットデータ収集などに努めている。2019年度は，申請額と助成額に差があったため，残念ながら当初申請書に書いていたニュージーランドにおける英語母語話者とL2英語学習者による発話行為研究のデータ収集が実現できなかった。今後別の資金などで遂行できたらと思っている。
This research aims to investigate L2 learner interactions within authentic contexts rather than laboratory settings. There were two major achievements in this research in 2019. The first one was the paper presentation at IPrA at Hong Kong in June 2019. I received many useful comments which might form the basis for a future research paper. After the conference, I was able to meet up with Prof Haruko Cook to discuss research. The second achievement is textbook publishing based on movies. I collaborated with three international researchers and wrote interaction related segments (e.g., speech acts, small talks, turn takings). The contents were published and can be purchased online or in book form. Further, while the results have not yet been presented, research investigating the effects of reading books to children on their motivation has been completed.
My co-researcher and I collected story-retelling data in Singapore, analysed the data and prepared an abstract which was accepted by the international conference in Singapore. However, due to COVID-19, the conference was postponed until March 2021, thus we did not get to share the results in this academic year. We continue to communicate with each other to discuss further data collection and analysis of data. As a pilot project, I've been using HomePod and iPad devices to explore searching for relevant materials and for data collection. Since there was a significant divergence between the amount of research money I applied for and the amount granted, I had to postpone planned data collection of English native speaker and L2 learner data in New Zealand in 2019. I intend to pursue that part of the research in another project in the upcoming year.
