本研究は、1921年から1927年まで日本に駐日フランス大使として滞在した劇作家のポール・クローデルの滞日時の資料を収集し、アーカイヴ化することを目的としている。現在までにフランスと日本の外交史料館に残されている資料のコピー、当時の「東京朝日新聞」「読売新聞」「東京日日新聞」などの主要新聞、各地の地方新聞の新聞記事、雑誌記事、クローデルの日記、書簡は、コピーの形で収集したが、データ化をしていなかったので、今年度はこれらの資料をデータ化する作業を行った。同時に新たな資料の収集と、クローデル作品の上演の映像を編集・加工する作業を行った。2016年12月と2018年6月に公演されたポール・クローデル作渡邊守章演出『繻子の靴』の記録映像の編集と1988年公演のポール・クローデル作渡邊守章演出の『真昼に分かつ』のデジタル映像の保存などを行った。これらの資料と新たに収集した資料等をもとに2018年5月19日から7月16日まで県立神奈川近代文学館で開催された「生誕150年記念詩人大使ポール・クローデルと日本展」への情報提供を行い、同展の図版カタログの編集作業を行った。また「詩人大使の創作を支えた山内義雄」と題したトークセッションでは、クローデルと山内義雄の交流と山内義雄がクローデルの日本理解の大きな助けになっていたことを明らかにした。研究の成果発表としては、『詩人大使ポール・クローデルと日本』の責任主幹となり、「自然と隠喩——ポール・クローデルの日本理解」、「ヤヌスの双頭——クローデルと日本の詩」、「さらば、日本」などの記事を執筆した。また11月3日4日に日仏会館で行われた「ポール・クローデル生誕150年記念シンポジウムポール・クローデルの日本」で「ものの『ああ性』を求めて——ポール・クローデルと日本文化」と題する講演を行い、クローデルが日本の「もののあわれ」に独自の解釈をして、自己の文学観に取り込んだことを明らかにした。
The purpose of this study is to collect and archive materials of Paul Claudel who stayed in Japan as a French ambassador from 1921 to 1927. Copy of materials held by France and Japan diplomatic archives, articles of major newspapers such as Tokyo Asahi Shimbun, Yomiuri Shimbun and Tokyo Nichi-nichi Shimbun, articles of local newspapers, Claudel Diaries and letters were collected in the form of copies, but they were not digitized, so we worked on digitizing these materials this year. At the same time, we collected new materials and edited the video of Claudel's works, Le Soulier de satin (2016 and 2018) and Partage de midi (1988). We added newly collected material to these materials. We provided information to the Exhibition "The 150th Birthday Poet Ambassador Paul Claudel and the Japan" held from May 19 to July 16, 2018 at the Kanagawa Museum of Modern Literature and edited the illustration catalog of the exhibition. Also, in the talk session entitled "Yoshio Yamanouchi supported the creation of the Poet Ambassador", it was revealed that the interaction between Claudel and Yoshio Yamanouchi is a great help for Claudel's understanding of Japan. I was responsible for the illustration catalog of the exhibition "Poet Ambassador Paul Claudel and Japan", including my papers, "Nature and Metaphors-Paul Claudel's Understanding of Japan" and "Janus -Claudel and Japanese Poetry" etc. Also, at "The Paul Claudel's 150th Anniversary Symposium Paul Claudel's Japan," which was held at the Maison franco-japonaise on November 3, 2018, I gave a lecture on Claudel and Japanese Culture entitled "A la recherche de la Ahité Claudel et la culture japonaise".
