北東アフリカ地域は、依然として人口増加にともなう住宅・施設不足が大きな問題となっている。乾燥地域という特異な気候条件にありながら、環境や土着性を無視した輸入材料、輸入構法に頼るか、スラムに見られる粗末な仮設住宅に頼るかといった状況の中で、経済性、効率性、耐久性をさらに重視した環境適応型建築構法を考察することが急がれている。よって本研究は、この地域の土着材料と在来構法に着目し、力学的・技術的視点から環境条件に合致した建材の最適化を試みるものである。 This paper deals with the study on the application of vernacular construction and local material in the Horn of Africa. In this area, it is requested to upgrade housing conditions restricted by imported materials which disregard the problems of slum quarters. This study aims at developing construction system and building materials in order to attain economical, durable and environment-adaptable systems, as well as to examine its sustainability from the dynamical and technical point of view.
