本稿は, 近代地域社会のなかで多様な資金需要に対応するための地域金融機関のあり方を, 株式会社銀行・個人銀行・個人金融業の相互関係を視野に入れて検討することを課題とする。検討対象としたのは, 青森県野辺地町の野村治三郎家で, 野村家は, 地域社会の最有力の資産家として, 株式会社銀行に出資して頭取となるとともに, 個人銀行を設立し, 銀行設立後も銀行を通さない個人的な金貸業も継続していた。そして株式会社銀行は, コルレスポンデンス網を広げることで商人の遠隔地間取引に対応し, 個人銀行は土地を担保とした金融の役割を果たし, それらに合わない個別の資金需要に対しては, 銀行を通さず個別に野村家は年賦貸を行っていたことが明らかとなった。
This article clarifies features of the local financial institutions dealing with diverse financial demands in the Modern Age in Japan. The target of this research is the Nomura Jisaburo family in Noheji town in Aomori Prefecture. The Nomura family was the wealthiest family in Noheji town, so Jisaburo became the president of the local bank. The family also organized its owner bank, and lent personally its money on interest to locals. Consequently, the local bank dealt with the financial demands of merchants, the owner bank undertook money lending on the basis of land as collateral, and the Nomura family lent personally its money on the basis of the plan of payment in installments.
