| Abstract |
This study considers the South China region from two perspectives, South China region viewed from China's bicycle industry and South China region viewed from developments by Taiwanese companies; it considers the developments and structural changes created by the relationships between economic system reforms and opening to foreign companies, investigating South China's bicycle industry as a case study.
In the South China region, the shift in the production core's center of gravity from Guangzhou to Shenzhen and surrounding areas as well as the transition from state-owned enterprises to non-state-owned enterprises were observed. In particular, the advancement of Taiwanese companies progressed the replacement of the driving force in the South China region; such developments have led to cross-strait unification and upgrading of the bicycle industry in the mainland major producing centers.
