This thesis describes the design and evaluation of Colabo, a tool to allow collaborators of a documentary  film project to remotely participate in the interview filming process. In the past, making a documentary  film that spans across different locations would require the crew to travel. However in recent years, with the advancement of the internet and mobile technologies, new documentary collaboration formats have begun to use web platforms and mobile applications. These formats encourage more remote participation and diverse content. However, lack of communication between the collaborators during the production process may result in incomplete or incompatible content which later affects the editing process. With current solutions, data management is time-consuming, sharing data causes excessive delay, and navigating between the applications is cumbersome. In order to solve these issues, Colabo provides a unified system to manage data, uses lightweight image and audio data to reduce data sharing time, and allows users to remotely participate by tagging and commenting directly on the shared media. Evaluation of Colabo in mock interview sessions demonstrated its effectiveness compared with existing tools. In particular, its unique features of audio tagging and commenting are evaluated useful.
