Abstract 
自然科学の方法の社会科学への適用可能性をめぐっては，これまで多様な議論が展開されてきたが，近年経済学や社会学において注目を集めているのが，イギリスの哲学者バスカーが提唱する超越論的実在論である。これは実在論に依拠しつつ，これまで対立してきた実証主義（自然主義）と解釈学（反自然主義）を批判的に統合しようとする試みである。この立場は，経済学ではローソンによって主流派経済学に対する批判の道具として用いられ，経営学では野中らの「知識創造理論」の方法論的基礎としても用いられている。本稿では，この批判的実在論が社会科学に実りある展望をもたらすかどうか批判的に吟味される。
