経済学は, 他の諸科学と同様に, 議論の実践（Discursive Practice）の一形態である。この経済学における議論の実践についての理解を深めようとすれば, 「経済学のレトリック」の研究が不可欠となる。その理由は, 経済学者は, その学問的実践の中で, 経済学独自の社会的・制度的な制約条件の下で広義の発話を行い, 読者や同僚を説得しようと試みているからである。そのような経済学における議論の実践には, 異なるレベルの3 種類の議論が含まれている。それらには, ①現実の経済そのものについての議論, ②経済学の学問的成果についての議論, そして, ③経済学における議論の実践の妥当性や適切性についてのメタディスコース, があるが, 「経済学のレトリック」の研究は, 第3 のメタディスコースと他の2 つの異なるディスコースとの関係に関わっている。
本稿におけるレトリックの分析により, 経済学の会話を阻むものとして, ①メタディスコースへの無関心に起因する学問的視野・関心の狭隘化, ②技術的高度化による根拠なき厳密化（第2 のディスコースの無批判な称揚）, ③現実の経済問題解決（第1 のディスコース）を回避する非現実化, などが明らかになる。
Economics, as well as other sciences, is a form of discursive practice.
When trying to deepen the understanding of discursive practice in economics, the study of "Rhetoric of Economics" is indispensable. This is because in their academic practice, economists speak under social and institutional restraint conditions in a broad sense specific to economics to convince readers and colleagues.
Such discursive practice in economics contains three different levels of discussion: 1) discussions of the real economy itself; 2) discussion of the academic results of economics; and 3) meta discourse regarding the validity and appropriateness of the discursive practice in economics; the study of "Rhetoric of Economics" relates to the third meta discourse and its relationship with the other two different discourses.
Through the analysis of rhetoric in this study, as hurdles to the dialogue in economics, 1) a narrow academic vision/interest stemming from indifference to meta discourse; 2) groundless strictness due to technological advancement (uncritical praise of the second discourse); and 3) the idea of avoiding the solution to realistic economic problems (first discourse), and so on, are clarified.
