The structure of colonial tax fiscal policies in the United Kingdom is shown to have experienced major changes under the Second World War. 
From a scheme centered on custom taxes as a mechanism for supporting the pound, it significantly changed its figure to a scheme where more importance was placed on direct taxes based on the introduction and increase of an income tax. 
After the war, while there were expectations regarding the role of direct taxes with an intention to effect colonial rule through welfare, the pound crisis of 1947 became an opportunity to press for the return to the previous scheme, where British mainland used the mechanism to exploit colonial tax fiscal policies, infuriating at an early stage the search for a postwar regime.
