| Abstract |
本論文では, 1990年代の日本企業の生産性に関する研究をレビューし, これまでの観測事実を整理した。確認された観測事実の中でも, 特に多くの研究で確認された事実, いわば「ロバストな」観測事実は, 次の三点が挙げられる。第一は, 一般に, 日本の外資系企業とグローバル化を進めている企業は生産性が高いことである。第二は, 外資系企業, 研究開発の活発な企業, 規模の大きな企業は生産性の成長が速いことである。そして第三は, 生産性の低い企業が市場から退出するとは限らないことである。
This study surveys the literature that examines the productivity of the Japanese firms in the 1990s.
A general conclusion is threefold. First, foreign firms in Japan and firms in advanced states of globalization have higher productivity.
Second, foreign-owned firms, R&D intensive firms, and large firms have faster productivity growth.
Finally, less productive firms do not necessarily exit markets.
