| Abstract |
This article reviews three physical identity theories of mind : the neural identity theory, the covert behavior identity theory, and the overt behavior identity theory that is based on Rachlin's (2014, 2017) teleological behaviorism. These theories are conceptually analyzed in terms of the zeroth, first, and second levels of intension of mental concept, and the concept of the reality with no intension as proposed by Nagai (2016). The analysis showed that teleological behaviorism offers a new way of understanding mental concepts by cancelling the zeroth level of intension. However, the analysis also showed that Rachlin's (2017) opinion of logical impossibility of zombies in teleological behaviorism is only partially true.
