Abstract
Today, many machines used in everyday life are computerized. Information technology enables many jobs to execute automatically. As a result, the amount of our troublesome operations are significantly reduced. But this situation also brought users of such automated machines severe problems. They fail to find the meanings of their own operations, which cause the loss of their motivation to understand the machine mechanism and its logic.
This discommunication of man-machine interface is not derived from insuffcient amount of information transmission or poor explanations. The concept that knowledge can be transmitted to a user by man-machine interface is not valid. When user meet new machine or new function, he can understand it only if he successfully generates new recognition system, or totally restructures it. The reformation is enabled by the nature of human recognition system's arbitrariness and plasticity. And it had been only possible when user meets and interacts with overflowing multi-modal sensory data. Natural environment has been supplying a lot as a feedback to every human behavior. But artificial interface responds only few logically arranged information concerning function executions. We must install supporting mechanism for user's recognition system eneration in artificial interface in order to improve usability of automated machines.
