Abstract |
Three groups of participants, DAT patients, old adults, and young adults, took two kinds of recognition test, a recognition test of simple words and a recognition test of composite words. In the simple word recognition test, the performance of the DAT patients was lower than ones of old and young adults but there was no difference between old adults and young adults. In the composite words recognition test, the false alarm rate for conjunction words, which consisted of two parts from two different learned composite words, was highest for the DAT patients and was higher for the old adults than for the young adults. The possibility for the use of composite word recognition test as a diagnostic test for memory deficit was discussed.
